Heavy metals, e.g. Ag, As, Ba, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb, Sb, Se, Tl, and Zn, are metals and metalloids that pose a threat to human and the environment. They exist in almost all solid wastes and wastewater, and are the main concern for waste disposal and reuse. If disposed improperly, heavy metals will leach out, migrate via soil, water and air, and enter human body through food chain, leading to detrimental impacts to human health and the ecosystem.

ZA-TECH treatment reagents effectively capture and immobilize heavy metals and metalloids in wastes and wastewater, rendering the treated wastes and wastewater disposable under any environmental requirement. ZA-TECH reagents do more than meet requirements - they establish industry standards for reliability and safety.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT

ZA-TECH reagents have a full range of products for the treatment of heavy metal wastewater from many industries, including mining, metallurgy, refining, battery making, paper mill, plating, pharmaceutical, coating, leather treatment, semiconductor and solar cell industries. 

​ZA-TECH reagents can also be used to treat leachate from landfills or MSW, effluents and sludge from waste and wastewater treatment processes.

INCINERATION ASH TREATMENT

Incineration fly ash is considered to be a highly hazardous waste as it contains substantial amounts of heavy metals and certain level of POPs. If managed improperly, it will cause serious impacts to the ecosystem and human health.

ZA IFA treatment technologies are based on the concept of physicochemical separation or immobilization of the contaminants. Depending on the composition of a specific IFA, the local criteria and regulation, and the client’s budget, we can customize the most efficient and practical solutions using our unique ZA-TECH reagents, equipment, and processes. 

ZA proprietary MIL process is a proven treatment technology for IFA. It is simple, efficient, and cost-effective, with features of volume reduction, and excellent durability and environmental safety.

LAND/SOIL REMEDIATION

​Marine clay and sediment are soft wastes with fine particles and high plasticity, sometime containing pollutants e.g. heavy metals, oil, or chemicals. They are very difficult to handle and utilize using conventional methods.

Our proprietary SIL ​process is designed to tackle this type of soft wastes using a physicochemical process. Using ZA-H
reagent and special equipment, the wastes are first decontaminated by removing or stabilizing the pollutants, and then pelletized into rigid, durable aggregates that can be used for construction and land reclamation. This process has a processing capacity as high as 200 ton/h, with advantages of being simple, cost-effective, and safe for the environment

INDUSTRIAL WASTE RESOURCELIZATION

​Many industrial wastes are being disposed of in landfills currently. They are unsuitable for utilization due to their inferior geotechnical properties and high contents of contaminants. However, with our proprietary treatment and transformation technology which involves a physicochemical stabilization/solidification using unique formulations and processes, we can transform most types of industrial wastes into safe, environmentally-friendly construction materials that meet the corresponding environmental criteria and engineering requirements. This technology has been applied in China and Singapore to convert different types of ash, slag, and sludge into construction aggregates, pavers, and land reclamation fills. 

For those highly hazardous wastes that are inappropriate for utilization, our technology is capable of treating them to reduce the mobility of the contaminants, so as to comply with the criteria of regulatory criteria for landfill disposal.
